Twas Raining in Bansko
If someone had told me it would rain during my entire vacation, I would have had second thoughts. It turned out to be a blessing. I will forever remember how I walked with my friend arm in arm, and we shared one umbrella. People say there is nothing better than bad weather. They are correct – a walk under the rain is an achievement. The sky was mostly cloudy or gray, but rainy Bansko was such an adventure to us.
Dabov Café in Bansko
Every day we went to a small, intimate café, we sat next to the window and watched the people outside. Once, I saw a kid running hand in hand with his also running Grandpa, and it was quite a funny view. There was this woman who smoked like a chimney, and a woman with a jacket in a color I had never seen. People watching in Bansko turned out to be fantastically pleasant and amusing. We also had a special sort of sour coffee that hit me right in the heels. Every single day, we went to this coffee shop, and we always found new objects to photograph. We talked so much about so many things. Dabov café now holds a special place in my heart.
The Spa and the Pool in Bansko
We went to the SPA center in the hotel several times. I love the feeling of how the steam enters my nostrils and makes my skin all sweaty. The sauna smelled of lavender. The jacuzzi was a treat, but oh, that pool! The water was very warm, so one could enter the pool without a shock of any sort. I swam the pool thirty times. I was in a completely meditative state, praying to the water element and thanking my body for balancing and healing itself. Swimming was so good for my posture and left my body so thankful. I’m now planning to go swimming every day.
Eating in Bansko
We tried several taverns, but our favorite by far was Bai Kotse. It’s a place where the food has a spirit of its own. Our palates were so happy! The flatbread was soft like my skin after the SPA. We ate a mix of chicken, vegetables, and mushrooms, sprinkled with yellow cheese, prepared for us with heart. There is culinary magic in this place that just remains with you – such flavors and tastes.
Making Photos in Bansko
The city has great views of the mountain, just above the small, retro houses lies a magnificent view of mountain tops covered with snow and angry skies. In Dabov Café, we photographed the poinsettia, which is our favorite seasonal flower. Some of the trees had kept their yellow adornments. Some of the desserts deserved to be photographed. Whenever we went, there were such views; we just wanted to bottle them and take them home.
Socializing in Bansko
The main reason I went to Bansko was to create an adventure for my friend. And we did have a good time. We woke up and went to breakfast together, where we watched our sour, sleepy faces until the first cup of coffee. In the afternoons, we sat on the terrace to have tea and listen to the murmur of the brook. We walked in the city come shine, or come rain, under the umbrella. The entire time, we had sunk into those deep conversations that happen only on good vacations. His lips often curled in his lovely smile. It was a time we will both fondly remember.
