kinds of witches

Kitchen Witch

She lives in a sacred space she calls home. Of all the kinds of witches, she is the queen of home-baked goodies, and she delights in nurturing her household. A Kitchen Witch calls tidying and scrubbing the floor “magical cleansing,” and she uses cinnamon in protective spells. Cooking befits her; her meals always smell of many herbs and spices, and she is a rather successful and prolific cook. The entire craft of the Kitchen Witch celebrates the home and its relationship to the owner. Yes, you can actually talk to your house!

Green Witch

She’s the one who loves being surrounded by forests and trees, the one who knows about folk magic and herbalism, and even has interests in botany. The Green Witch knows how to use oils and incenses to achieve her intentions. She is deeply related to nature, and the weather spells affect her moods. In sync with the seasons, she changes her entire practice with the rhythms of nature. Loving the wild, she befriends animals, garden plants, and herbs. Sustainable living is her philosophy; she respects all living things. Often, she practices forest bathing. Yes, one can talk to her plants as well!

Cosmic Witch

She loves looking at the stars. The stars look back at her and guide her in life. Astrology is her domain, and she is always striving to harness celestial energy and direct it for her purposes. She loves casting a horoscope. She loves to be in tune with the moon, and she pays much attention to its phases. The cosmos, the entire cosmos, is part of her craft. Before performing a ritual, she will take into account the alignment of planets.

Divination Witch

This is the witch who possesses at least 4 different decks of tarot cards. Also, she has an interest in palmistry. She’s the one who reads the signs. Runes are fascinating to her, and so is the pendulum. She likes receiving intuitive messages from the universe.

Sea Witch

Fond of lakes, seas, and oceans, or simply water sources, the sea witch has a collection of shells and a jar of sand in her belongings. Of all the kinds of witches, she can totally do her spellwork in her bathtub, adding her own magic to her shower. Her secret wish is to be a mermaid.

Crystal Witch

Not only the fairies love small, shiny things. Crystal Witches use a lot of natural stones in their rituals. They speak to the stones, they cleanse them, and they charge them with sunshine or moon water. The stones are living things to them; they have got character, color, energy, presence, and preciousness. Gemstones are used for crystal magic.

Hereditary Witch

Have you heard the sentence “I am a fifth-generation witch.” The hereditary witch has many ancestors who dealt with the craft. Probably, she has inherited a cottage in the woods, surrounded by wildflowers, birds, crickets, and a spring, maybe a few animals. She wears her grandma’s enchanted bracelets or rings. Her ancestors left her not only belongings but also a craft to work with.

Fairy Witch

She works with fairies, gnomes, and other elementals. Being on good terms with spirits is her game. Carrying offerings in her pockets, she strolls about forests and parks in expectation of adherents. You could see her in spring or early summer, wearing a flower crown much like a hippie. Attractive to animals and kids as well, the fairy witch lives close to nature, and she’s interested in folklore tales as well. “Let’s sit in the garden” is her hallmark line.

Eclectic Witch

I believe if I were to choose the path of the witch, I would choose to be an eclectic witch, because they are the wisest. They study attentively everything, and then they choose what works for them. They have aspects of every other type. This path is for artistic witches with deep emotional intuition, who are sensitive to energy and have an interest in occult lore but are more focused on love as a weapon. They practically write love letters to themselves. The eclectic witch can carry an amulet to always catch her bus on time. From many different traditions, she will create a personal form of the craft, which meets her individual needs and abilities. In front of a mirror, she will practice glamor magic. At all times, she feels one with the universe, the Earth, and the divine.
